We’ve had a great fun day here with Mike Labbe of Lord Hobo Brewing Co, Boston MA and Robert Wessel (another American friend of ours) who both descended yesterday to come and join forces for a very special brew…
First we (well Vincent, Lead Brewer at LHBC) played a lot with Water Chemistry, and sent over a shopping list to perfect our already beautiful water. The we mashed in – Marris Otter Pale malt courtesy of Warminster Maltings and a huge percentage of Malted Oats.
Then more hops – a gentle 50ish IBU of British Progress for bittering, followed by vast amounts of Ella and Vic Secret hops for the aroma – and what an aroma!
A novel game played with flow rates and temperature has made the brewhouse smell absolutely stunning, and the wort is just bursting with these tropical fruit flavours.
We’ve just pitched the yeast, and we’re all salivating at thought of trying this 5.5% beer as soon as its ready!
Some will go to the States, but most of this will be availble in UK bars – get your orders in quick!
